The sand courts of the University of the East (UE)-Caloocan proved once more to be hostile to the Green Spikers, as they finished fifth at the end of the elimination rounds of the Men’s Beach Volleyball division of the UAAP Season 73.
In a basketball-hungry nation such as the Philippines, there are few instances wherein other competitions which are not related to basketball manage to draw more attention than the well-loved hoops action. The UAAP Season 73 Cheerdance Competition did just that, as the time-honored Araneta Coliseum burst and bled with color as 20,950 people flocked to witness the competition, Sept. 12.
A year removed from their UAAP Season 72 campaign, it appears that it will be déjà vu all over again for the Lady Archers, as they currently have a hold of the third seed heading into the crucial Final Four stage of the tournament, holding on to a precarious half-game lead against the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tigresses with an 8-4 win-loss record.
The rest of the UAAP still has not found a way to defeat the defending champions, the DLSU Lady Shuttlers, as the Taft-based netters tote an immaculate 7-0 win-loss record at the end of the elimination round of the Women’s Badminton Division of the UAAP Season 73.
It was a tumultuous weekend for De La Salle University, as the Green Booters and the Green Tankers captured two UAAP championships in succession, both in overpowering fashion.
