DLSU’s first matchup proved to be a tough one as NU took a 3.0-1.0 win behind the efforts of International Master (IM) Paulo Bersamina, FIDE Master (FM) Austin Literatus, and Neil Pondoc, all of whom clinched wins over Lasallians Jeazzir Suposa, Gio Mejia, and Denzel Amar, respectively. On the other hand, the Lady Woodpushers opened their day on a bright note. La Salle managed to sweep the Lady Maroons, 4-0. Bernadette Galas, Marie San Diego, Joyce Acedo, and Kyla Camacho all sealed 1-0 victories over Arvie Lozano, Ruth De Guzman, Ynna Canape, and Martina Cassiano, respectively.

The Lasallians were also able to dominate the Lady Bulldogs, 3.5-0.5. DLSU’s Galas faced NU’s Arlene Ruiz, with the former sealing the match with a score of 1-0.
